
1. How much is an eye exam?
A comprehensive eye exam is $120, including:

Full vision and eye health evaluation

Glaucoma and diabetes screening

Optos retinal imaging at no extra cost
Contact lens exam: Add $50 (total $170).
2. WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept cash, credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.
Checks are not accepted.
3. DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
We are an Open Access Office and see all patients—no insurance required.
If you have insurance, we’ll provide a detailed invoice with all required codes so you can file your claim.
Insurance claims are not submitted by our office,
4. WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN EYE EXAM?
Your doctor will:

Check your vision and eye health

Screen for conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration

Prescribe glasses or contacts if needed
-
Dilate your eyes when appropriate
Referrals or treatments are provided when necessary.
5. DOES YOUR PRACTICE SEE CHILDREN?
Yes! We love kids. Dr. Poe recommends that all children have their first eye exam before starting kindergarten. Many eye conditions can affect both visual development and learning, so early detection is important.
6. WILL I BE DILATED AT AN EXTRA COST, AND SHOULD I BE DIALATED, CAN I DRIVE? IS THERE AN EXTRA COST FOR DILATION? SHOULD I BE DILATED? CAN I DRIVE AFTERWARDS?

We always recommend dilation, but we understand that it doesn’t always fit your schedule.

We’ll discuss any concerns with you, and if needed, we can reschedule the dilation for another day.

No extra cost for dilation.

Most patients feel comfortable driving afterward, but you’re welcome to bring a driver if you prefer.We provide temporary sunglasses to help with light sensitivity.
7. DOES YOUR OFFICE HAVE MODERN EQUIPMENT?

8. ARE YOU PART OF COSTCO? DO YOU SELL GLASSES OR CONTACTS?
Our office is physically connected to Costco—you’ll find us on the north side of the building with our own exterior entrance. However, due to Kansas state law, we operate as a separate business.
This means:

We do not sell glasses or contacts.

We focus exclusively on your eye health.

You are free to take your prescription to any optical provider you choose.
We are always happy to recommend Costco Optical for their convenience and excellent service.
